CME requirements depend on the version of the product and the platform on which it will be installed.

Overall, if you want to give Cisco Call Manager Express a try, Release 7.1 (IOS Release 12.4. (24) T) is a great place to start as it contains numerous bug fixes and enhancements. This release can also run on older Cisco 1760 series routers and is not subject to the licensing restrictions that Cisco introduced with IOS 15 and later.
What is CUCM Integration With Active Directory?
While there are many integration possibilities with Cisco Unified Call Manager, one that we are often asked about is between Cisco Unified Call Manager and Active Directory. This request is so common that we have heard it from all the companies that have bought BE6K from us.
The integration of CUCM and Active Directory allows user profiles to be synchronized between applications. Instead of requiring different usernames and passwords to log into your computer, email, and other collaboration applications, once the integration is complete, you can use the same username and password for all of them.
